The ShuBee Story

As a second-generation plumber, our owner and CEO, Steve Stone, knew plumbing like the back of his hand. Stone ran a small plumbing company in Macon, Georgia for years but could never keep that fourth truck running. He knew he needed help but couldn’t network with his peers in the area because they were his competition.

In 1992, Stone saw an advertisement for a success group promising to connect him with others in the industry that would help him grow. After the first meeting, Stone knew he and his wife’s lives were about to change. With the help of that group and the others it connected him with, he grew his plumbing company from 6 trucks to 32 trucks.

During a national meeting with that success group, Stone entered a marketing contest with the idea of a shoe cover to combat the number one complaint from homeowners; the service technician left a mess behind. Stone won the contest and was then tasked with rolling out the concept to all of the group members. In six months, they would all report on how the new initiative was going. It was a major success. Not only did the clients love it, but the companies practicing this new concept were experiencing major growth. The main complaint from the contractors was that the shoe covers wouldn’t fit over their work boots and tore easily on the job. 

Steve set off to solve that problem. He learned how to source the product and started small by supplying his buddies with shoe covers. When Stone sold his plumbing company in 1996, he and his brother, Mann, decided to really give the shoe cover game a shot. In 2000, ShuBee® was born in their mother’s garage.   

Over twenty years later, ShuBee’s® mission is still rooted in the lessons we learned all those years ago. ShuBee® isn’t in the shoe cover business, we are in the people business. We pride ourselves on building relationships with clients to help them reach their goals so we can pay it forward.
