What women really want - their secret desires revealed!
By Lynn Duston, ShuBee Inc.
Let's face it, most of your technicians are male. And now women are making over 80% of the buying decisions in U.S. homes. And that statistic increases to over 90% when it comes to making plumbing and HVAC decisions. Now it's more important than ever to understand what women want.
Secret #1: Need to be understood
Maybe this isn't a secret to you. But because women love to talk that means you should listen! They want to make sure you understand them. Act interested in what matters to her, acknowledge that you understand by repeating the problem back to her, or just nodding your head, and giving eye contact. Repeat what she said to give her the opportunity to
confirm or clarify.
Secret #2: Need to feel connected
Sorry to disappoint you, but this doesn't mean she wants you. When you first arrive,
confirm the nature of your service call. This will put her at ease and make her feel more comfortable. Also, give her a business card when you first enter the house.
Secret #3: Peace of mind
Provide assurances that she is making the right decisions regarding repair or
installation. Explain in detail how your repair/installation will help. If you use industry-terms, make sure she understands what you are talking about.
Secret #4: Trust
Demonstrate your trustworthiness. First impressions count really high in this category. Most people don't have a problem opening their door to a neat, clean-shaven technician wearing an ID badge. Also trust is further demonstrated by fully addressing any concerns the client may have with your service call. Make sure the client understands that you are providing solutions based on the nature of the service call.
Secret #5: Long-term relationships
Women want to feel confident enough to call you back for repeat service or recommend you to their friends. If they get the impression your just a "quick-fix-it/fast buck" kind of service, they won't let you do the job. Remember - women love to talk. And they will tell all of their friends and family about the job you do.
