Press Releases:

ShuBee celebrates 10 years of customer excellence

January 11, 2010

Macon, GA – ShuBee, an international safety products supplier for the residential service contractor industries, today announced the celebration of 10 years in business.

Steve Stone started the company with a simple idea: providing shoe covers for the working contractor. The booties then available on the market were medical grade, which were often too small to fit around a work boot and didn’t hold up during the work day, so Stone developed his own line and slowly added additional “sight to gain attention” products to the lineup.

Ten years later, the venture he and business partner Randy Bennett started has grown from a home-based operation expected only to generate “extra fishing money” to a global business offering a comprehensive product line including shoe covers, coveralls, surface protection, gloves, safety equipment, marketing tools and consulting services to clients from Alma to Alaska, from Africa to Australia.

“All our products are designed to give (the clients) peace of mind and help the contractor land the job,” Bennett said. “The number one complaint from homeowners,” Bennett adds, “is they made a mess of my home.”

“We want contractors to use our products, and to know how to use our products,” said Stone. “The customer only perceives value in what they see. If a contractor comes in to fix a toilet, all the work is on the inside. Our products help demonstrate the care and professionalism the contractor is taking to protect the home owner’s investment.”

ShuBee has celebrated many milestones during its ten years of operation, including being selected as a preferred vendor for season seven of ABCs Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, meaning ShuBee’s products will be used on the job sites where the show rebuilds homes for deserving families.

“We’re honored to play a role in such a great cause,” said Stone.

Also in 2009, ShuBee was honored by Inc. Magazine as one of the 5000 fastest growing, privately held US companies, placing the company among the ranks of some of the most successful businesses in America. “We are extremely excited to have received such prestigious recognition,” Stone said. “To be in the same category with such successful companies is a real honor and we look forward to staying on and even moving up the list in the future.”

The company is currently operating out of their fourth location in Macon, Georgia, with additional warehouses in San Jose, California and Denver, Colorado. “We’ve outgrown every place we’ve been,” said Bennett. “We’ve even added additional warehouse locations to house more product and get it to our clients quicker.”

Stone adds, “By being in touch with our clients, we have been able to adapt to their needs and grow with their business. That’s been a huge factor in why we’ve experienced the success we have. We’re really looking forward to the next ten years.”

ShuBee recognized as one of the fastest-growing companies in America

August 13, 2009

Just months shy of its ten year anniversary, ShuBee officials were informed this week of the company’s inclusion in the prestigious Inc. 5,000 for 2009. The honor recognizes ShuBee as being one of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America and places ShuBee among the ranks of some of the most successful businesses in America.

The Inc. 5,000 is a list compiled annually by Inc. Magazine and has served as evidence of the significant accomplishments of entrepreneurial companies. Businesses making the list are “creating jobs, redefining their industries and shaping our world.” Many of today’s most successful U.S. companies achieved their first recognition on a national level when they appeared on the list, such as Microsoft, Timberland and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.

“We are extremely excited to have received such prestigious recognition,” ShuBee Founder Steve Stone said. “To be in the same category with such successful companies is a real honor and we look forward to staying on and even moving up the list in the future.”

ShuBee and the rest of the 5,000 businesses making the list will be honored at the 28th Annual Inc. 500|5000 Conference and Awards Ceremony on September 23-25, 2009 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

During his more than 30 years of experience in the plumbing and HVAC business, Stone grew his fleet from one truck to 32 and based his approach to business on excellent customer service and a total commitment to professionalism. Today, Steve and the ShuBee team are dedicated to helping other businesses in the residential service industry grow to reach the highest level of success possible by sharing the tools, products and methods which propelled Stone to such great success. The ShuBee team provides clients with tested and proven products, such as professional-grade disposable clothing, protective clothing, safety equipment, marketing tools and their trademarked shoe covers - the same products Stone used during his time in the field. In addition, ShuBee provides personalized consulting services to clients in an effort to share advice on the latest and best ways to set themselves apart from their competition, advise on which products would best meet their needs and ultimately guide them to tremendous growth in their field.

ShuBee launches websites dedicated to helping the residential service industry thrive

July 21, 2009

ShuBee is proud to announce the launch of two new websites, which were created in an effort to provide those who work in any area of the residential service industry with the latest information in their fields. These free resources will benefit plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, realtors, general contractors those working in the pest control field and industry-related contractors. The new sites will keep workers in all fields of the residential service industry up to date on the latest advancements and changes as they happen, which will in turn keep them a step ahead of their competition.

Filled with the latest news, tips, techniques and more, www.serviceindustrytips.com also offers contractors and realtors an open forum for industry discussion. Service Industry Tips is continuously updated with the latest news so that as changes occur in the service industry, residential service contractors will be able to find out first and be prepared to handle whatever may come their way. The site even makes video tips available for each field and provides access to ShuBee’s newsletters and other updates from the ShuBee hive.

The other website launched, ShuBee Business Tips (www.shubeebusinesstips.com) is geared towards the management of a business in the residential service industry and is full of tips that will help businesses grow and thrive. We know these tips work because they’re based on founder Steve Stone’s more than 30 years of experience in the field. These are also the same techniques the ShuBee team encourages clients to practice in their own successful service-based companies today. At ShuBee Business Tips, visitors can get tips on management, marketing, sales and more. They can find advice on growing a business, read editorial articles and even sign up for theBuzz: Online Edition, ShuBee’s bi-weekly e-newsletter to receive similar ShuBee Business Tips as their published, as well as subscriber-only specials, late breaking news and more!

“These sites were developed to be used as resources to help residential service businesses succeed,” Marketing Manager Chris Hood said. “That’s what ShuBee is all about, and we’re constantly looking for new ways to make that happen for our clients.”

ShuBee is the leading manufacturer for shoe covers, coveralls, carpet film, surface protection, safety gear and marketing materials for the residential service industries. These newly developed websites are divisions of ShuBee and were created to be used as resources to help service industry workers stand out in their fields. ShuBee is dedicated to helping service industry businesses grow by providing knowledge of the same techniques and products Stone used to grow his business, which started with just one man and one truck, into a multi-million dollar company.

ShuBee selected as Preferred Vendor for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”

July 14, 2009

(Macon, Georgia) As fans gear up for a new season of ABC’s hit reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” ShuBee, Inc. is doing much more than just getting ready to watch Season 7. The team at ShuBee is excited to be a Preferred Vendor for the new season, which producers say will be much different than previous seasons because of its focus on volunteerism and its new campaign, “Get on the Bus.” ShuBee General Manager Randy Bennett says being able to be a part of such a huge effort is great, but what’s most exciting for the company is having the opportunity to help so many people.

“Being chosen as a preferred vendor is an honor,” Bennett said. “What’s even more fulfilling for everyone at the company is having the opportunity to help so many people; from the volunteers working on the builds to the deserving families who benefit from them, we’re just happy to be in a position to help others.”

Since its founding in 2000, ShuBee has grown in the service industry field to be a top provider of both products and consulting to business leaders in every aspect of the service industry field, and its motto, “Satisfaction Guaranteed…No Matter What,” has obviously found favor with its clients. In fact, it was a referral from a ShuBee client who had worked on previous “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” builds which led producers of the multi-award winning show to contact ShuBee about being one of their twenty preferred vendors for the upcoming season. The ShuBee team was excited about the offer and the opportunity to help families in need and didn’t hesitate to get on board.

“We were honored to play a role in such a great cause,” Owner/CEO Steve Stone said. “It feels good to know that our customers have so much confidence in us and our products that they would recommend us for something as big as being a part of this show.”

For each build on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” Season 7, ShuBee is providing safety glasses, gloves, waterproof shoe covers, dust masks, earplugs, safety vests, caution tape, Enviroshield™ microporous coveralls and various floor covering products. These products and more were used to launch Steve Stone’s previous plumbing/HVAC business to a multi-million dollar status and led to his founding of ShuBee, with the vision to help guide others in service industry fields to achieve the same level of success.

“All of our products have been tried and tested,” ShuBee Marketing Manager Chris Hood said. “We know that when used properly not only do they perform, but with their sight-to-gain-attention design they help businesses grow. More importantly in this case, we’re proud to be able to provide these products to the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team who are using them in the builds that mean so much.”

The first show of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” Season 7 will air on Sunday, September 27 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Visit www.abc.com for more information about the show. For more information about ShuBee or the many products and services it offers, visit www.shubee.com or call (866) 974-8233.

The Emmy award winning reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” now in its 7th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It’s executive-produced by Anthony Dominici. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America. The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.

ShuBee Team to celebrate “Red Friday” on July 10; Local business showing support for troops abroad

July 8, 2009

(Macon, Georgia) In the wake of Independence Day celebrations, the team at ShuBee plans to show its support for U.S. servicemen and women abroad by wearing red on Friday, July 10. The display of support will be practiced by employees in all departments of the company, and one local television station, Fox 24, will be on hand that morning to recognize their participation.

The idea of “Red Friday” has been around for several years. People all over the world have participated to show support for members of the armed forces who are stationed overseas. Locally, many groups have celebrated the day, and Fox 24 has recognized some of those who have shown their support by wearing red and raising awareness about U.S. troops overseas. According to Celeste Smith with Fox24, the station shows its support by highlighting people and groups in the community who recognize “Red Friday.”

“Red Friday is being observed across the United States until the troops come home,” Smith said. “Fox24 is happy to feature proud businesses who [celebrate the day] by their employees wearing red in support of our troops on Fridays.”

Although ShuBee is not the first group in Central Georgia to be recognized for their participation in the grassroots effort, General Manager Randy Bennett says that recognition is not what ShuBee’s participation is about anyway.

“It’s important to show our support for the men and women who are overseas working to protect the freedoms we enjoy as Americans,” Bennett said. “Celebrating the Fourth of July reminded everyone about those freedoms and the cost of having them; we just wanted to take a day at ShuBee to thank the troops overseas and show our support.”

“Red Friday” can be celebrated by any individual or group on any given Friday and does not denote support of the war or any political stance. The gesture is a display of support for overseas troops, regardless of the circumstances under which he or she was deployed. If you or your organization plans to participate in a “Red Friday,” contact Fox 24 at (478) 745-2424.

For more information about ShuBee or the company’s participation in “Red Friday,” contact Chris Hood, Marketing Manager, by phone at (478) 405-5494 ext. 101 or by email at chris.hood@shubee.com.

Study Indicates ShuBee Protective Coverings Pay Off

October 11, 2008

A recent study reveals that homes for sale which incorporated ShuBee Customer Care’s line of protective products received starting bids nearly $7,000 greater than those that did not. A major construction firm tested ShuBee protective products such as window film, flooring films and protective tape. The study was conducted on 26 homes starting March 2005 and was completed in September 2006. Half the homes were protected with the protective products and half were not. These products not only protected the surfaces, but also gave the homes the “new” look buyers desired.

All the protective products stayed in place when the realtor showed the homes to prospective buyers. During the survey, homes using ShuBee protective products received starting bids an average of $6,740 more than homes without. The construction firm reports they made and additional $87,620 during the survey period by using ShuBee protective products. Their total investment in ShuBee protective products is estimated at $478 per home, earning the construction firm a staggering net gain of $81,406 during the 18 month survey period.

    ShuBee.com Breaks the Top 500,000

    September 25, 2008

    Exciting times for ShuBee.

Many high-dollar advertising agencies and Search Engine Optimizations (SEO) specialists will state that it’s normal to see little if any results for these efforts for about six months. The team at ShuBee can safely say they’ve shattered that myth…

Netcraft (www.netcraft.com) conducts an ongoing survey to track various web-related statistics – anything ranging from the number of active websites, new sites per month to the number of registered domain names. According to Netcraft’s numbers for August 2008, there are currently 176,748,506 registered websites (with 1.3 million sites added in August) (http://news.netcraft.com/archives/web_server_survey.html). Another company called Alexa (www.alexa.com) keeps track of a site’s overall ranking based on traffic, page views, unique visitors, etc.

"When we first brought our SEO campaign and web development in-house in April ’08, just six short months ago, ShuBee.com stood in the overall website rankings at a respectable 2.7+ million with a total of 165,719,150 registered websites (http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2008/04/index.html). Since then we’ve launched an extremely aggressive social networking campaign (make sure to look us up on Twitter, Facebook, Squidoo, LinkedIn.com, MerchantCircle.com, Orkut.com and others), organic Search Engine Optimization, a very successful Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign as well as expanding to several additional online marketplaces (you can now buy ShuBee products on Amazon.com, eBay.com, BizRate.com, Shopzilla.com and many other comparison shopping sites). We’ve also launched an intense link building campaign and several microsites to further promote the ShuBee brand (check out www.serviceindustrytips.com in your spare time)," states ShuBee Marketing Manager, Chris Hood.

Hood continues, "In the short time we’ve been actively promoting ShuBee.com, we’ve managed to increase our overall rank to 484,892 (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/shubee.com)! In the past three months, we’ve seen our website’s ranking increase 801,485 positions. Our traffic has increased by 164% and our overall page views are up by 171%… I find that amazing."

Geek Squad Uses ShuBee Shoe Covers

    April 10, 2008

ShuBee’s Shoe Covers and other protective covering products are designed specifically for the service industry and made to ensure that replacement costs associated with technician damage is kept to a minimum or eliminated all together.

In recent years, wearing shoe covers has become the standard for the service industry. The New York Times reports today in an article on HDTV setup and calibration that Geek Squad, the service division of Best Buy, uses ShuBee Shoe Covers to ensure they don’t do any damage when on a service call.

The article states, “upon arriving at a customer’s home in Wilton, N.Y., Stephen Rhoades, a Best Buy technician who works out of the store in Crossgates Mall in Albany, N.Y., put on ShuBee shoe covers.” The story continues to explain the company takes this extra step to reassure the customer that their employees are competent professionals as well as ensure no damage is done to the customer’s floor or carpet while on the job site.
